beyond — the app

Privacy Policy

For Beyond, a personal growth and life management application. Local-first, no accounts, no tracking.

Effective date: July 2026

Introduction

Beyond is a personal growth and life management application designed with privacy as a core principle. Your journals, goals, reflections, habits, dreams, notes, and other personal information belong to you and remain under your control.

This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, how it is stored, and how your privacy is protected.

Data Storage

Beyond follows a local-first approach. All personal information you create inside the application is stored locally on your own device using the app's private storage. Examples include:

  • Goals
  • Habits
  • Tasks
  • Journal entries
  • Dreams
  • Reflections
  • Realizations
  • Hour tracking
  • Sleep tracking
  • Personal notes
  • Relationship information
  • Other content created by you

This information is not uploaded to any server operated by the developer.

No User Accounts

Beyond does not require users to create an account. The application does not collect:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Password
  • Identity information

Users can use the application without registering or signing in.

No Analytics or Tracking

Beyond does not use:

  • Analytics services
  • Advertising IDs
  • User tracking
  • Usage telemetry
  • Crash reporting services
  • Behavioral profiling

The developer does not monitor how you use the application.

No Data Sharing

Personal information stored within Beyond is not shared with:

  • The developer
  • Advertising companies
  • Analytics providers
  • Third-party data brokers
  • Government agencies (except where legally required)

Your personal content remains on your own device.

Optional AI Features

Beyond includes optional AI-powered features. These features are disabled by default. To enable AI functionality:

  • Users must provide their own API key from a supported AI provider.
  • The API key is entered voluntarily by the user.
  • The API key is stored locally on the user's device.
  • The developer does not receive, store, or have access to the user's API key.

When AI is used, the communication occurs directly between the application and the AI service selected by the user (for example, OpenAI or another compatible provider). Users are responsible for reviewing the privacy policy and terms of the AI provider whose API key they choose to use.

Permissions

Beyond requests permissions only when required for specific features. Depending on how the application is used, permissions may include:

  • Photos — used when attaching images to entries such as dreams, journals, or notes.
  • Microphone — used when recording voice notes.
  • Notifications — used to deliver reminders for habits, goals, and scheduled activities.

Permissions are requested only when needed and are never used in the background without user interaction.

Cloud Synchronization

Beyond currently does not provide cloud synchronization. Because all information is stored locally:

  • uninstalling the app,
  • clearing application storage, or
  • resetting the device

may permanently remove stored data. Future cloud backup functionality, if introduced, will be optional and clearly disclosed.

Data Security

Because information remains stored locally on your own device, users retain direct control over their personal data. The developer does not maintain servers containing user journals or personal records.

Children's Privacy

Beyond is intended for general productivity and personal development and is not specifically directed toward children.

Changes to This Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated as the application evolves. Any significant changes will be reflected by updating the Effective Date.
